Shane specializes in large historical and period accurate residencies and classical architectural design. His work often use natural and traditional materials such as limestone, copper, and hardwoods. For more commercial and modern designs he uses synthetic and environmentally sensitive materials. Shane's hallmark architectural styles are Gothic Revival, French Renaissance, and Italianate & Mediterranean Revival, with additional work in the Spanish Colonial Revival and Art Deco styles.

For the motion picture industry, Shane designs & fabricates full scale sets for feature filming as well as miniature scale models, often at 1/6th scale, for stop motion animation. He illustrates storyboards, provides conceptual renderings, and art direction for a variety of productions.
